Homemade Bread

Servings: 1 Loaf
Cook Time:
30–40 Minutes


  • 2 1/2C Hot Water

  • 1 1/2T Yeast

  • 1/4C Sugar

  • 3/4C Milk (I use canned milk)

  • 1/4C Oil

  • 1/2T Salt

  • 5–7C Flour


  1. Water should be about 102–105 degrees (hot like a bath tub)

  2. Add Years to Water and let stand until the Yeast goes foamy (5 or more minutes)

  3. Add Milk, Oil and Salt to the Yeast mixture and stir.

  4. Add Flour, 1C at a time, while stirring well.  (Dough should have a soft shine when mixing.)

  5. When Flour is starting to pull away from bowl and is still sticking, remove from the mixing bowl.

  6. Place Dough on a well-floured counter top and knead for 5–10 minutes.

  7. Place Dough in a bowl and cover with a cloth.

  8. Start oven preheating to 350 degrees.

  9. Let rise until doubled in size.

  10. Place in a bread pan and bake for 30–40 minutes, until golden brown.
